Zabbix 6.0 Long Term Support has just been released. The new version of the popular IT infrastructure monitoring tool has received several enhancements. The creators of Zabbix emphasize that the new version comes with guaranteed 5-year technical support. Let's take a look at what's included in Zabbix 6.0.

The new features available in Zabbix 6.0 are primarily aimed at business service providers, DevOps and ITOps teams, enhancing overall observation and providing new insights.

Zabbix 6.0 and business service monitoring

Zabbix 6.0 LTS introduces several new business service monitoring features, combining flexibility, performance, and an improved user interface/UX. The enhanced SLA reporting feature, developed in collaboration with S&T Slovakia, provides tools necessary for tracking service level indicators (SLIs). This allows you to determine whether a team is meeting set service level objectives (SLOs).

Zabbix server

This ready-to-use solution allows Zabbix users to deploy a Zabbix Server HA cluster without external tools. Users can deploy one or more readiness nodes to eliminate various types of downtime.

Introduction of machine learning

Zabbix 6.0 can detect anomalies and perform monitoring using machine learning. It comes with a range of flexible features that enable machine learning instead of relying on static problem thresholds.

Kubernetes monitoring

Zabbix 6.0 LTS provides DevOps teams with capabilities to monitor the increasingly common containers and container orchestration in the IT world. With support for monitoring Point of Delivery nodes and internal Kubernetes components, Zabbix users can monitor their Kubernetes instances at multiple levels.

Enhanced data collection and visualization

Zabbix 6.0 LTS includes many new templates for solution providers such as Dell, Cisco, F5, and Cloudflare. The new version offers improved data collection and visualization. Notably, the software developers have added the ability to define geographic maps and populate them with monitored entities. This allows for better insight into the state of a company's infrastructure. The latest version features a new set of widgets, such as Top and Bottom N data overviews, and SLA status visualization.

Zabbix training and updates

Zabbix offers a set of professional training courses covering all the features of the new version – from learning the GUI functions and basic navigation to deploying complex distributed environments and understanding the internal workings of processes. Zabbix also provides an upgrade dedicated to older versions of the software to the latest version 6.0 LTS.

As summarized by its creators, Zabbix 6.0 LTS includes many UI/UX improvements, performance enhancements, and a new set of monitoring templates and integrations for the most popular vendors, such as pfSense, F5, Mikrotik, Dell, HPE, and many others. The release of Zabbix 6.0 LTS also brings changes from previous non-LTS releases – Zabbix 5.2 and Zabbix 5.4 – into the new LTS version.
